Keuka College offers 2 Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner tracks:

Both programs are hybrid online/on-campus with one immersive, hands-on weekend per semester on Keuka College’s Finger Lakes campus where students learn from expert clinicians.

Master of Science in Nursing – AGPCNP

Semester One (8 credits)

NUR-500 – Organizational and Systems Leadership (4 credits)
This course examines advanced nursing leadership roles within healthcare systems. Students study healthcare finance, quality improvement, value-based care, and system change. Ethical and legal responsibilities are emphasized as students apply research and technology to leadership decisions.

NUR-510 – Nursing Theory and Research (4 credits)
This course introduces nursing theory and research as the foundation of advanced practice. Students analyze how evidence-based practice is developed and applied in care settings. Quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, and outcomes research are reviewed through structured critique.

Semester Two (7 credits)

NUR-560 – Advanced Pathophysiology (4 credits)
This course explores common disease processes across the lifespan using a systems-based approach. Emphasis is placed on cardiac, vascular, respiratory, and immune conditions. Students integrate pathophysiology with clinical reasoning, ethics, family support, and community resources.

NUR-570 – Advanced Pharmacology (3 credits)
This course focuses on medication management across major body systems. Students apply pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacogenomics to clinical decision-making. Non-pharmacologic therapies, cost considerations, and ethical prescribing are also addressed.

Semester Three (7 credits)

NUR-550 – Advanced Health Assessment (3 credits)
This course builds advanced assessment skills across the lifespan. Students perform comprehensive histories and physical exams and begin differential diagnosis development. Health promotion, prevention, and hands-on skill application are emphasized.

NUR-580 – Evaluation of Adult/Gerontology Health for the Advanced Practice Nurse (4 credits)
This course strengthens adult-gerontology clinical reasoning and diagnostic evaluation. Students integrate assessment, pathophysiology, and pharmacology to form treatment plans. Legal scope of practice, prescribing regulations, and interdisciplinary collaboration are reviewed.

Semester Four (7 credits)

NUR-520 – Nursing Informatics (3 credits)
This course integrates nursing practice with informatics and healthcare technology. Students evaluate electronic health systems, data sources, and clinical tools that support patient outcomes. Ethical, legal, and privacy considerations are included.

NUR-650 – Primary Care for Adult/Geriatric Patient I (4 credits)
This course focuses on prevention and management of chronic illness and acute exacerbations in adult and geriatric patients. Content includes ENT, cardiopulmonary, hematologic, and gastrointestinal conditions. Case studies and clinical practice support evidence-based decision-making.

Semester Five (7 credits)

NUR-530 – Health Care Policy: Advanced Practice Nurse (3 credits)
This course examines health policy and its impact on populations and practice. Students analyze political, social, and economic influences on healthcare delivery. Leadership, advocacy, and legal issues in advanced practice nursing are emphasized.

NUR-660 – Primary Care for Adult/Geriatric Patient II (4 credits)
This course continues management of adult-gerontology health conditions. Students focus on musculoskeletal, neurologic, endocrine, genitourinary, reproductive, and integumentary disorders. Clinical reasoning is strengthened through case-based and practicum experiences.

Semester Six (6 credits)

NUR-670 – Advanced Practice Nurse as Community Health Leader (4 credits)
This seminar and practicum prepare students for leadership in community health. Students apply epidemiology and nursing science to assess populations and design prevention strategies. Role development occurs under supervision in diverse healthcare settings.

NUR-750 – Professional Seminar/Capstone (2 credits)
This capstone course integrates learning from all program components. Students analyze current professional issues and propose practice or system-level improvements. A comprehensive exam confirms achievement of program outcomes.

MSN Clinicals

Clinical requirements total 540 hours arranged at student’s current workplace or leading healthcare facilities in New York State. Clinical hours are integrated throughout the program within specialty courses (NUR-580, NUR-650, NUR-660, NUR-670).

Students must attend one immersive, hands-on weekend per semester on the Keuka College Finger Lakes campus (15 hours per immersion, with some courses requiring two immersions per semester).

The college assists with arranging clinical placements at current primary care settings or other leading medical facilities in the area.

MSN Admissions Requirements
