Master of Science Nursing – AGPCNP

MS Curriculum

NURSE-GN 2050 – Advanced Pathophysiology (3 credits)

NURSE-GN 2021 – Clinical Pharmacotherapeutics Across the Lifespan (3 credits)
This course prepares students to choose and manage drug therapy across age groups. Students integrate pharmacology and pathophysiology to select safe and effective treatment plans. The course builds skill in evidence-based prescribing and treatment adjustment.

NURSE-GN 2012 – Advanced Physical Assessment Across the Lifespan (3 credits)
This course builds advanced history and physical exam skills for diverse patients. Students use a case-based approach to form hypotheses and guide clinical decisions. The course also introduces diagnostic tests and basic ECG interpretation.

NURSE-GN 2013 – Contemporary Clinical Practice Roles (3 credits)

NURSE-GN 2037 – Common Health Problems of Adults and Older Adults & Seminar (3 credits)

NURSE-GN 2030 – Geriatric Syndromes (3 credits)
This course focuses on complex geriatric syndromes across primary, acute, and long-term care. Students learn functional, mental, and multi-condition assessment and management strategies. The course also covers interdisciplinary teamwork, ethics, and resource use.

NURSE-GN 2060 – Mental Health Across the Lifespan (3 credits)
This course reviews common mental health and substance use conditions from adolescence through older adulthood. Students study social, biological, and cultural factors that affect risk, assessment, and treatment. The course compares medication and non-medication treatment options in multiple care settings.

NURSE-GN 2016 – Adult-Gerontology Primary Care II (3 credits)
This course prepares students to manage acute and chronic problems in adolescent and adult primary care. Students build diagnostic reasoning and create evidence-based care plans with prevention and advocacy. The course also covers caseload management, teamwork, and community resources.

NURSE-GN 2017 – Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Practicum II (3 credits)
This practicum applies adult-gerontology primary care skills in a supervised clinical setting. Students assess, diagnose, manage, and evaluate complex patient needs using evidence-based care. The practicum emphasizes ethical practice, cultural competence, collaboration, and leadership.

NURSE-GN 2018 – APN: Adult-Gerontology Primary Care III (3 credits)
This course focuses on complex adult and adolescent primary care problems. Students develop differential diagnoses and management plans with clear outcome measures. The course integrates clinician, educator, advocate, and leader roles with policy and teamwork concepts.

NURSE-GN 2019 – APN: Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Practicum III (3 credits)
This practicum provides advanced primary care management for complex adult and adolescent patients. Students deliver evidence-based care with a focus on leadership in the primary care setting. The practicum reinforces ethical care, cultural competence, and coordinated team practice.

MS Clinicals

Clinical training occurs in community-based primary care settings such as outpatient clinics, provider offices, long-term care settings, and home-based care, and faculty arrange placements for students. Students can rotate through major health systems and specialty practices that co-manage care with primary care teams.

MS Admissions

Applicants typically submit transcripts, a résumé, a personal statement, letters of recommendation, and an RN license, and NYU notes a 3.0 minimum GPA for MS applicants in its program materials.
