Master of Science in Nursing – AGNP

The estimated cost for the MSN – AGNP program is $30,702 and would take 2 years to complete on a full-time basis (43 credits including two summers).

MSN Curriculum

The 43-credit MSN program prepares graduates to provide primary care to young adults (including adolescents and emancipated minors), adults, older adults, and the elderly through 13 courses combining advanced theory and clinical application.

NURS 501: Perspectives in Advanced Practice Nursing
This course reviews current issues that shape advanced nursing practice. Students examine how history, law, policy, ethics, technology, and economics affect APN roles and decisions.

NURS 503: Pharmacology for Advanced Nursing Practice
This course teaches drug therapy across the lifespan. Students study pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics and connect medication choices to body systems and disease states.

NURS 504: Advanced Human Pathophysiology
This course explains how common diseases develop in children and adults. Students link cellular and system changes to clinical presentation and care decisions, with attention to environment, genetics, pathogens, and behavior.

NURS 506: Theoretical Foundations of Advanced Nursing Practice and Research
This course introduces theory that supports advanced practice and research. Students analyze nursing and interdisciplinary theories and connect theory use to evidence and practice questions.

NURS 603: Individual, Family, and Community Systems
This course frames individuals, families, and communities as connected systems. Students assess needs and plan culturally competent care across the lifespan with attention to diversity.

NURS 604: Research and Evidence-Based Nursing for Advanced Nursing Practice
This course builds skills for evidence-based practice. Students critique research, plan interventions from best evidence, and select measures to track patient outcomes.

NURS 633: Advanced Holistic Health Assessment
This course develops advanced assessment skills through lecture, lab, and supervised practice. Students take complete histories and perform physical, functional, and risk assessments across the lifespan, including 35 supervised clinical hours plus weekly class and lab time.

NURS 636: Primary Care
This course prepares students to deliver primary care in ambulatory settings. Students manage acute and chronic conditions, support prevention and wellness, and complete 135 clinical hours plus 15 seminar hours with a preceptor.

NURS 637: Primary Care III
This course focuses on primary care for adults from young adulthood through older adulthood. Students manage complex and multiple conditions while continuing work in prevention and health promotion, with 135 clinical hours plus 15 seminar hours.

NURS 638: Primary Care II
This course covers primary care for targeted groups such as adolescents and women. Students build assessment and treatment skills for acute and chronic problems, with clinical hours of 200 (FNP) or 135 (Adult/Gero NP) plus 15 seminar hours.

NURS 690: Practicum in the Nurse Practitioner Role
This practicum builds advanced role competency in a practice setting. Students strengthen skills in client management, team coordination, quality and safety, finance basics, risk management, and health technology.

NURS 694: Capstone Seminar
This seminar guides students through a required capstone project. Students synthesize theory, evaluate research, and apply evidence to an advanced practice topic with faculty mentoring, and they may repeat the course up to two times if needed.

NURS 705: Capstone Project in Nursing
This course supports completion of the final capstone project. Students apply evidence and advanced nursing concepts to produce a finished project that meets program criteria.

MSN Clinicals

Students complete 585 supervised clinical hours through practicum experiences in primary care settings.

Clinical training emphasizes advanced holistic health assessment, primary care management across the adult lifespan, and development of clinical decision-making skills for treating young adults through elderly patients.

The estimated cost for the Post-Master’s Certificate program is $23,562 and would take 2.5-3 years to complete on a part-time basis (33 credits).

Tuition

Graduate tuition is $714 per credit hour with total MSN program cost of $30,702 (43 credits) and Post-Master’s Certificate cost of $23,562 (33 credits).

Additional fees include graduate fees (approximately $88.69-$1,773.80 depending on credit load), $100 wellness card, and $10 service fee. Full-time students (9+ credits per semester) are initially charged $2,940 annual health insurance, which can be waived with proof of personal coverage.

Accreditation

The College of New Jersey’s baccalaureate and master’s degree programs in nursing are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Graduates are prepared to sit for the Adult Gerontological Primary Care Nurse Practitioner national certification examination.
