Both programs run in an online format with mandatory on-campus intensives at the Emory University Atlanta campus.

Program Tracks Overview

Program NameEst. TuitionEst. Duration
MSN AGPCNP$105K1.5 years (FT) / ~2.5 years (PT)
Post-Graduate Certificate AGPCNP$21K-$67K4-12 months

The MSN suits BSN-prepared RNs seeking a rigorous academic credential with deep clinical exposure; the post-graduate certificate is built for already-licensed APRNs adding a primary care specialty through an individualized, gap-analysis-driven plan.

Students eligible for the VANAP-GE Scholars Program gain an additional funding pathway not available at most programs.

MSN AGPCNP

The estimated cost for the MSN AGPCNP at Emory University is approximately $105K, and the program takes about 1.5 years to complete full-time across 4 consecutive semesters (fall start).

A part-time option is available with fall and spring start dates, estimated at approximately 2.5 years.

Tuition note: Emory charges $26,765/semester flat for 12 or more credits and $2,230/credit for 1–11 credits. Semesters 1 and 4 carry 12.5 credits (flat rate: $26,765 each); Semesters 2 and 3 carry 11.5 credits (per-credit rate: 11.5 × $2,230 = $25,645 each). Total: $26,765 + $25,645 + $25,645 + $26,765 = ~$105K.

MSN Curriculum

The 48-credit MSN is a four-semester lock-step program with a fall-only entry point for full-time students. The first semester establishes the advanced practice foundation — health assessment, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and a diagnostics and clinical reasoning course specific to the AGPCNP role. Semesters 2, 3, and 4 layer in three sequential AGPCNP didactic and clinical practicum pairings, progressively increasing in clinical hours (180, 240, 360).

Supporting coursework covers research and evidence-based practice, healthcare quality and patient safety, and innovative leadership and policy. Students may also pursue a dual MSN/MPH degree through the Rollins School of Public Health.

Post-Graduate Certificate AGPCNP

The estimated cost for the Post-Graduate Certificate AGPCNP at Emory University is $2,090 per credit hour; the total varies based on a gap analysis of prior graduate coursework.

Based on the published 1–3 semester completion window and typical graduate credit loads of 10–12 credits per semester, the estimated total ranges from approximately $21K (about 4 months, significant prior coursework waived) to $67K (about 12 months, substantial additional coursework required).

Most students with an existing APRN specialty can expect to land in the $42K–$50K range over approximately 8 months.

Note: Post-graduate certificate programs at Emory are not eligible for federal student loans as they are non-degree-seeking programs.

Certificate Curriculum

The post-graduate certificate does not follow a fixed course sequence. The program director reviews each applicant’s prior graduate transcripts and collaborates with the student to complete a gap analysis, then develops an individualized plan of study. The plan draws from the same AGPCNP specialty coursework used in the MSN program. Students must hold an existing MSN, DNP, or PhD with APRN licensure before enrolling. The program is delivered online with synchronous and asynchronous components and mandatory on-campus intensives at the Emory Atlanta campus.

  • Clinical sites span metro Atlanta including primary care, specialty, and behavioral health settings
  • Population focus: adolescents through older adults in primary care settings
  • Active RN license in Georgia or the state of clinical practice required before clinical enrollment
  • Mandatory on-campus intensives at the Emory Atlanta campus are required; dates published in advance

  • Proof of RN licensure in the state of clinical practice
  • Professional resume
  • National certification in an APRN population focus where relevant
  • Post-admission requirements: AHA BLS certification, health insurance documentation, immunization records, physical exam, Georgia RN licensure or out-of-state equivalent, drug screen, and background check
  • Admission is competitive and space-dependent; waitlisting is possible
